Pressing steel on wood removes fretting.

Shaping notes into new creatures allows the untamed kid to bob his head.

Like honey to my ears is the meeting-together of Melody with Tom.

The feeling of excitement bases itself upon a transcendent reality.

“Day and night they never stop saying.”

To this end, notes become words become meaning become heart.

  1. This is cool! I love the way you personify notes and music! What do they never stop saying?? :)

  2. Malia,

Thanks for checking out this artwork. Yes, I wanted to wed the idea that music plays a higher function to me than mere notes (i.e. Melody) and rhythm (i.e. Tom-tom drums). I view music as a means to acknowledge and affirm my devotion to the triune God.

The phrase, “Day and night they never stop saying” is taken from a scene in the apostle John’s book of “Revelation” (i.e. chapter 4), which describes how four beasts surround God’s throne and never stop saying “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.” To me, music’s most significant function is to provide a means of worshiping the eternal God.
